Green Day Rocks the Garden

07.20.09 - Boston, Mass. - Green Day played a sold out show at the TD Garden on Monday night. Very Exciting. Lots of pyro. Some stage jumping. Lots of screaming.

-Will

Yeah...uh...I don't know. A man in a pink bunny suit came out and chugged two beers to warm the crowd up before Green Day came on. I don't know who was in the suit, but it was about the same size and had the same shoes on as front man Billy Joe Holliday. Just saying.
Silhouette bunny.

Then he went into the crowd.

Silhouette Holiday.

The Boston Globe votes on agreement with New York Times

07.20.09 - Boston, Mass. - Spent the rest of the evening outside the Boston Globe waiting for an announcement on their new labor agreement. It never came, but I did get an interesting shot of a pressman taking a break in the printing room.

Stingray's Tattoo and Piercing in Allston

07.20.09 - Allston, Mass. - Went to Stingray's Tattoos, Piercings and More in Allston to illustrate a story on a bill in the Massachusetts State House (sponsored by Rep. Bruce Ayers) to standardize the age and rules for getting pierced and tattooed in Massachusetts. Currently, the rules are up to cities and towns.

Isn't that coat great?

Mel (The Sequel)

07.17.09 - Boston, Mass. - As much as I hate this city sometimes, their are few better times to be had anywhere than Friday nights at Jacob Wirth's singing along with Mel (Stiller). The piano man (who recently returned from a trip to Alaska and takes credit for convincing Sarah Palin to quit) hooked us up with front row seats to the show. He even played Ruby Tuesday for us (and yelled at us when we didn't sing).

Thanks Mel,

Will

Isn't that a great shirt?
Odd(ity) isn't it?

The Dreadlocked Wonder

07.17.09 - Roxbury, Mass. - Went to court today for several hours. I was waiting on the arraignment of a man who allegedly shot four people outside of a bar in Dorchester in the early morning. He preferred not to be identified, but Judge Ed Redd had little sympathy. As a compromise, he put his shirt over his face making my five hours at the Roxbury Trial Court worthwhile (seriously, it was awesome).

Thanks man,

Will

Haha.

Facade Collapse Boston

07.13.09 - Boston, Mass. - The facade of a building on Huntington Avenue collapsed Monday morning and, miraculously, no one was hurt. Repeat: the whole top of the building fell onto the sidewalk and no one was hurt. I was sent there in the afternoon to shoot some aftermath/clean-up shots on the street. I was able to get up into the YMCA across the street for some overalls.

Isn't it just picturesque?
YMCA photo
The closed the outbound lanes of Huntington Ave (Rte 9), which led to some impressive traffic come rush hour. Also, Northeastern was packed with summer students, professors and orientation students.

Spurlin has since been charged with three counts of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence. I spent most of the day driving around and asking for reacts from friends and family of the victims.

Fourth of July

07.04.09 - Beverly, Mass. - Beverly hosted their annual irreverent July 4 parade with all the fixings and  a bit of controversy. Last year a float making light of some pregnant high schoolers in Gloucester brought some unwanted attention to the town and this year the Herald went up to see if anything blasphemous would occur. Not much here, except some good Independence Day happiness.

Smoke Through at 100 Cambridge St Downtown

06.29.09 - Boston, Mass. - Smoke on the 6th story at 100 Cambridge St at Government Center brought out several fire trucks, ladders, cops, on-lookers and photographers. Not much here, no injuries and no damage, but some interesting photos with a 300mm from the ground.

Eldery Drivers

06.29.09 - Brookline, Mass. - Harry and Nancy Johnson spoke to the Herald about reaching a point in their life when they need to give up the car keys. Elderly drivers have been a subject of controversy because of some recent accidents and deaths in hits and runs. Many have called for retesting and perhaps removing the car insurance discount for senior citizens.

Governor Patrick in Arlington

06.22.09 - Arlington, Mass. - After the dog park I rushed over the Arlington for a town hall meeting with Gov. Deval Patrick. He fielded questions and appeared to begin laying the groundwork for next year's gubernatorial campaign.

Ronan Park Dog Park Opens

06.22.09 - Dorchester, Mass. - The Animal Rescue League of Boston hosted a vaccination clinic and announced the opening of a new dog park in Ronan Park in Dorchester. I followed Bolo (a black and white pit bull, 2 months old) around for some super cute photos.

A Very Happy Half Birthday Party To You

06.19.09 - Brookline, Mass. - Sarah wanted to throw a surprise half birthday party for Damon over at my place. What could I say? So we did.

It was Christmas themed because his birthday is Christmas Eve.

Downtown Crossing

06.08.09 - Boston, Mass. - Shooting some features around Downtown Crossing and looking for a new way to shoot the Globe's financial troubles. Fortunately, the Globe was literally for sale on the street and the simple sign made for a good illustration. And of course, two kids were performing outside Park St Church.

Braised Short Rib Ravioli at BOKX109

06.01.09 - Newton, Mass. - I was trying to get a really cool backlight washout window thing going here and it almost worked. Either way, looks pretty good to me.

Dan and Eden's Wedding

05.24.09 - Charles City, Va - It's been too long. No really it has. Alas, a post. Dan Harris and Eden Fenigsohn tied the know at the Eagle's Nest Plantation in Charles City on May 24. Very exciting. The weather was hot and muggy and then it rained and then it was cool and calm. There were bluffs, kissing, etc. Very exciting.

-Will

Eventually there was a rainbow above them. It was very cool.
OMG!
Champagne in the rain.
