Wedding Portfolio Update

11.24.12 - Chicago, Illinois - I updated my wedding portfolio over the Thanksgiving weekend with some recent work from the summer and fall. I did a lot of work over the summer between shooting my own weddings, attending friends' and second shooting for Jason Brown. It's awesome to see how everyone celebrates a little differently and each wedding reflects the couples' personality.

I'm definitely excited for the upcoming season.

Cheers,

Will

Elements Contemporary Ballet Fundraiser

11.01.12 - Chicago, Illinois - Elements Contemporary Ballet threw a great party for their fall fundraiser (what can I say? I'm a sucker for baklava and ballet.) at Cassona Furniture in Andersonville and gave attendees a preview of some of their newest work.

Be sure to check out their site and if you can, donate. Below are some of the still highlights.

Best,

Will

Cubs Final Game of 2012

10.03.12 - Chicago, Illinois - Nelson and I took the afternoon to go to the Cubs final game of 2012 at Wrigley Field against the woeful Houston Astros. The Cubs, the second worst team in baseball, were looking to avoid a sweep against the Astros, the worst team in baseball. Trust me it was riveting. The tickets were $1, so there's that.

It was dramatic though as you'll notice in the video below, All-Star first baseman Brian LaHair capped a great season with the game winning single in the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded. It was a long way from the 2007 ALCS at Fenway Park which I covered here, too. Alas, Cubs won, 5-4.

Best,

Will

Paco and Keisha's Wedding

09.29.12 - Chicago, Illinois - I had the pleasure of shooting Paco and Keisha's wedding in the South Loop a few weeks back. We did portraits at the Clarke House, which is the oldest house in the city and is a spectacular park to roam around in if you ever get the chance. The service and reception were at the Marmon Grand on Michigan Avenue. It was a fun mix of cultures (Keisha is from Trinidad and Tobago) and there was even a pan musician and a caricature artist (no, I didn't get mine done, maybe next time).

Aimee's Headshots

08.14.12 - Chicago, Illinois - I took some headshots in the old living room/studio and at nearby Senn Park for musician Aimee Bass on a lovely August afternoon. She does some very cool work with Sheboom, an all female drum ensemble here in Chitown, and wanted a shot with her drum to go along with the more standard head and shoulders stuff.

Below are some highlights.

Happy Birthday America!

07.04.12 - Gurnee, Illinois - I met some friends at Gages Lake about 40 minutes north of the city for a little barbecue, boating and fireworks.

It was my first Independence Day in a couple years (For new readers, I was in Spain teaching English), so I was really looking forward to it. Generally living abroad was great, but a few days of the year, Thanksgiving and Independence Day in particular, I tended to get a little homesick. They are hard to replace holidays that fall on a deaf ears to most people. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised to have this invite with all the fixins of America rolled into a great evening on a lake.

I took some pictures as well (of course) and a short video of my friends Casey and Nelson watching the show as the sun went down.

Enjoy!

Will

Watch for the "boom."

Watching the show. I tried this hundreds of times and couldn't get the fireworks bursting the background. But I liked this one anyway.

Chicago Blues Festival

06.08.12 - Chicago, Illinois - I went down to the Blues Festival with Nelson on Saturday night to see a Muddy Waters tribute and take in the scene. It was late in the day and I think everyone was having a good time, in some cases a real good time. Fun was all around including dancing and sharp outfits.

This didn't turn out like I wanted, but you get the idea.

Crosstown Rivalry at Wrigley

05.20.12 - Chicago, Illinois - It's a big weekend here in Chi-town, what with NATO leaders and protesters afoot. If international diplomacy isn't your thing, there's the Crosstown Rivalry between the Cubs and the White Sox. They are playing the final game of the series at Wrigley Field today and so far it's been all Sox.

I went down to Wrigleyville in search of photos and debauchery this morning and below is what I found.

Cheers,

Will

It must be love.

NATO Protest

05.18.12 - Chicago, Illinois - I'm not much for photographing protesters. Something about body odor and organized anarchists that rubs me the wrong way, I guess. However, I came across one of this weekend's protests as I exited the office this afternoon and felt like I should follow the crowd.

Passover

04.06.12 - Evanston, Illinois - We were invited to Kira's house for Passover Seder (my first, good to finally get off the schnide). We ate lots of saltwater parsley, matzo and horseradish and generally enjoyed the company of eating a great meal with great friends. Comatose, we stumbled home afterwards.

We also celebrated Kira's grandmother's birthday and she played along to our rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday".
