Rep. Frank Hynes Retires from Statehouse

12.18.08 - Boston, Mass. - Rep. Frank Hynes, D-Marshfield, gave his farewell speech at the Statehouse along with ten other state representatives. Hynes spent 28 years representing Marshfield and challenged his peers to work across the aisle to help ease the budget crisis that has Massachusetts in a $2 billion hole to start the year.

Quincy Dinner Theater

12.03.08 - Quincy, Mass. - The Quincy Dinner Theater puts on its annual show at the Sons of Italy in Quincy. Decent small theater, fun with lights and eccentric directors. This years show was set in an airport during weather delays.

South Shore Football - Scituate v. Cohasset

9.26.08 - Scituate, Mass. - Covered the Scituate High School football game on Friday against rival Cohasset for the Patriot Ledger. It had rained over 2 inches today, but the turf field didn't show a drop, much to my dismay.

The first half (and the only half I shot because of deadline) was tight, ending 7-6 in Scituate's favor on a late touchdown with 27 seconds remaining. The Sailor's came out fast in the second and crushed their neighbors, 27-6. Scituate moved to 3-0 and eclipsed their previous season's win total of 2. Cohasset moved to 3-1.

Ciao until dopo,

Will

Cohasset defenders sandwich receiver Jamie Voelger of Scituate as he attempts to make a grab in the second quarter.
Ever been yelled at by a football coach? It's intense.

Voelger celebrates after the Sailors recovered a fumble at the end of the first half.
Cohasset player Dean Driscoll catches a touchdown early in the second quarter.

Hillbilly Horseshoes

8.18.08 - Marshfield, Mass. - Kids from the 4-H camp in Plymouth competed in the Hillbilly Horseshoes competition at the annual Marshfield Fair. Typical country fair atmosphere, a lot of carnies, unfortunately, I didn't have the energy or the time to hang around and get some night photos. But I was happy about these, especially the third one, which is currently gracing my desktop.

Fourth place winner Jamie Nielson with her seat.
Horseshoes...you get the idea.
Aforementioned desktop photo
Yes, it was at the agricultural ring, i.e. horse track.
The winners.

Babe Ruth World Series

8.17.08 - Quincy, Mass. - Tough night for the Quincy Babe Ruth baseball team as they fell 8-0 to West Fargo, North Dakota in their second game of the tournament at Adams Field. They committed four errors, which was largely their downfall (usually is). Below are the shots I sent the Patriot Ledger.

The center fielder misses a fly ball sparking the three-run third inning.
Quincy waits to go on the field for their game.

North Dakota shortstop throws for an out.
Lead off hitter dodges a ball in his first at bat.
