Landmark School

08.05.09 - Manchester-by-the-Sea, Mass. - I did a shot for WETA, Washington, D.C.'s PBS, who is doing a feature on different methods of teaching in America. They needed the photos to go with their documentary and I spent the morning in a classroom of students who are behind in their reading levels. Ms. Valentine was working with the kids on spelling and phonics.

The kids were great and after lunch we got to go kayaking (well, they did, not me).

Haha,

Will

Chef Matthew O'Neil of Blue Ox in Lynn

08.05.09 - Lynn, Mass. - I shot chef Matthew O'Neil of The Blue Ox restaurant in Lynn on Wednesday evening. He was hosting a fundraiser for a mayorial candidate, so we didn't get to shoot inside. Outside was a good spot and the rain had stopped, making for an easy shot along Oxford St.

The Boston Globe votes on agreement with New York Times

07.20.09 - Boston, Mass. - Spent the rest of the evening outside the Boston Globe waiting for an announcement on their new labor agreement. It never came, but I did get an interesting shot of a pressman taking a break in the printing room.

Stingray's Tattoo and Piercing in Allston

07.20.09 - Allston, Mass. - Went to Stingray's Tattoos, Piercings and More in Allston to illustrate a story on a bill in the Massachusetts State House (sponsored by Rep. Bruce Ayers) to standardize the age and rules for getting pierced and tattooed in Massachusetts. Currently, the rules are up to cities and towns.

Isn't that coat great?

The Dreadlocked Wonder

07.17.09 - Roxbury, Mass. - Went to court today for several hours. I was waiting on the arraignment of a man who allegedly shot four people outside of a bar in Dorchester in the early morning. He preferred not to be identified, but Judge Ed Redd had little sympathy. As a compromise, he put his shirt over his face making my five hours at the Roxbury Trial Court worthwhile (seriously, it was awesome).

Thanks man,

Will

Haha.

Governor Patrick in Arlington

06.22.09 - Arlington, Mass. - After the dog park I rushed over the Arlington for a town hall meeting with Gov. Deval Patrick. He fielded questions and appeared to begin laying the groundwork for next year's gubernatorial campaign.

Braised Short Rib Ravioli at BOKX109

06.01.09 - Newton, Mass. - I was trying to get a really cool backlight washout window thing going here and it almost worked. Either way, looks pretty good to me.

Northeastern v. Delaware Men's Basketball

01.31.09 - Boston, Mass. - Northeastern continued their best start in school history and remained in first place in the CAA with a 73-59 thrashing of the Delaware Blue Hens.

It was also the first college basketball game I've shot all year and I was remind how much better the talent is than in high school (surprise!). Below are some shots.

Awesome,

Junior Figure Skater Gretchen Donlan

10.30.08 - Boston, Mass. - Gretchen Donlan of Higham is skating in the U.S. Figure Skating Sectional Championships this weekend at the Boston Skating Club in Allston.

-Will

Used a bit of flash on the back of her shoulder (you can see it in the face). Not significant, but adds a bit of depth. Still developing my flash skills, and this was a good place to start. I like the Zamboni in the background as well.
Double axel!

972nd Troops Come Home

10.19.08 - Boston, Mass. - The 972nd Military Police Unit of the Massachusetts National Guard returned home in July, but were formally welcomed back on Sunday, Oct. 19 at Faneuil Hall in downtown Boston. Lots of happy moments, John Kerry spoke, etc.

-Will

No, it's not a Child of Light; it is an over-exposed white shirt in some nice light. An "almost moment."
Each child was given an award for having their parents deployed. Pretty cool; jealous I never got one.
Senator...
More fun with light.
More moments.
