Jay Leno at Salem State College

04.07.09 - Salem, Mass. - Jay Leno came to Salem State College as part of their speaking series. The North Shore native was in the new earlier last week because WHDH, Boston's NBC affiliate,  was challenging the order to put his shot in their news slot at 10 p.m. Not surprisingly, WHDH lost the battle and Leno will be on at 10.

Leno tried to stay away from comments, but did say that if his show wound up on Telemundo, Boston's other NBC affiliate, he'd be willing to speak in Spanish.

Ole!

Front Page Funeral

02.21.09 - Cambridge, Mass. - Shot a funeral at St. James's Episcopal Church on the first day I came to work with out a collar in three weeks...smoooooth. Very sad. Earlier in the week, Hunter Pope, 12 of Cambridge, died suddenly of the flu. Naturally, only in the worst circumstances does Will land a front page.

Photo below,

Will

Reverend Laurie Rofinot comforts Hunter's father, Ken Pope, before the pall bearers bring the casket into the church. Over four hundred friends and family turned out at St. James's Episcapol Church in Cambridge for the funeral of 12 year-old Hunter Pope. Pope died suddenly last Friday of influenza.

Features on a warm (relatively) day

02.21.09 - Boston, Mass. - Features at the Public Garden and on Memorial Drive in Cambridge. It was actually a warm day (40ish), but I'm not sure you can deduce that from the photos.

Boston University v. Boston College

12.06.08 - Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Got to shoot the BU v. BC game on Saturday. An excellent affair that featured BU students beginning the game with a "Let's go Hokies!" chant to comemorate Virginia Tech's ACC Championship victory over BC earlier that day. To correct for my potential bias, I submitted this photo of Colin Wilson getting an earful of stick from BC's Ben Ferriero.

P.S. - BU won, 3-1.

Bam!

Toys for Tots for Birthday

12.06.08 - Wilmington, Mass. - Amanda Keane, 16 of Wilmington, asked her friends and family to donate to Toys for Tots for her birthday rather than receive gifts herself.

Awesome,

Will

Red Sox Practice

10.12.08 - Boston, Mass. - I worked my first shift at the Herald on Sunday (hooray!) and was sent to Red Sox practice (surprise). Nabbed this cool shot of Alex Cora fielding the ball in the afternoon sun which ran in color inside the sport section. Below are a few of the photos from practice and a feature from the people sleeping outside for tickets to Game 3.

Madison Park v. Boston English

10.10.08 - Boston, Mass. - Madison Park High School (red team) in Roxbury hosted Boston English and beat them 20-0 to move to 3-2 on the season. I was trying out with the Herald, shooting alongside John Wilcox. Madison Park ran over the smaller Boston English squad quite literally, but English's spread offense attack lead to my best shot of the assignment, a 30 yard reception at the end of the 1st half.

Said reception. Cedric Miles shows his ups as he leaps to grab to the pass.
English defender tries to wrap up Madison Park running back Darrell Hudson.
English QB Alex Villenueva was hustled the entire time and fumbled the ball on a drive in the second quarter. He was able to recover though.
